    The Category Supervisor will oversee the print management execution for his/her assigned print category and accounts.  The Supervisor is expected to embody the role of “execution leader” and will be the “go-to” person for other members of the category to assist with questions regarding print purchasing and print management procedures.

    • Account Ambassador / Ownership / Regular visits and engagement.
    • Project Management Leadership and Support.
    • RFQ Cleanse Support – Technical knowledge development
    • Quality Assurance support.
    • Overflow / Weekly Project Management Work
    • Major Project Oversight / involvement.
    • Project Management / Customer Service Training and associate development support. 

    While the Category Specialists will not directly report to the Supervisor on an administrative level, the Supervisor will have the authority to assign work and dictate existing processes as required by manager.  The Supervisor maintains a comprehensive view of current projects and project status for assigned accounts and will assist the manager in monitoring the day-to-day tasks and workflow for those accounts within the category.


    Job Description

    The Supervisor will use his/her senior experience in print purchasing, print project management, and Ivie processes to further the print production goals of Ivie and its Clients.  The Supervisor is also expected to be particularly skillful in procuring print within his/her assigned print category and be familiar with all of the production processes, substrates, and industry practices for that category.  In addition, the Supervisor is expected to possess an aptitude for conducting quality control checks at production facilities to ensure the highest level of print quality and accuracy of delivery for standard and special projects as defined by manager.


    The Supervisor is expected to engage in print purchasing and print project management initiatives as defined by manager. When acting as a Specialist, he/she will ensure that all incoming requests for quote meet the minimum requirements for estimating and that all specifications represent the best value proposition for the project.  Once a project has been awarded, he/she will be responsible for managing the project from production through billing.  The Supervisor will ensure that all available Ivie and vendor resources are aligned to produce each of his/her projects in a streamlined, cost-effective manner with the highest degree of quality.


    Ivie Expectations

     Ivie expects that the Supervisor will act at all times to maintain the highest level of ethics, professionalism and personal performance possible.  He/she is responsible for understanding and following the goals and philosophies of Corporate Services and Ivie in general.  The Supervisor must be receptive to growth and change and take a curious and objective approach to new processes & technologies. As part of the Category’s ground-level leadership team, he/she will monitor workflow for assigned accounts, report regularly on upcoming travel requirements, and advise the Category Manager on day-to-day work allocation when necessary. 


    The Supervisor will work to ensure that Ivie’s position in the print purchasing market is one that benefits both Ivie and its Clients.  Similarly, he/she must be aware of the profitability of Ivie and ensure that projects run smoothly to maximize profit while lowering Client expenses.  When required, the Supervisor must meet directly with Ivie’s Clients and exhibit a sense of professionalism and urgency and exude confidence in being a representative for his/her category.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist Client Services and other members of Corporate Services with print questions and provide informed recommendations
    • Ensure that Client Services receives the highest level of service from his/her category
    • Meet regularly with manager to discuss category and department initiatives
    • Maintain recurring reports as requested by manager
    • Understand nuances of each assigned Client in estimating and project management
    • Manage projects in an efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner
    • Work with manager to develop standards for quality, production methods, and pricing for the category
    • Work with the manager to advance industry knowledge through trade groups, seminars, plant visits
    • Enthusiastically support the processes, procedures, and mandates of department leaders in day-to-day interaction with the Specialists
    • Multitask and prioritize tasks by urgency
    • Set goals and achieve them by a stated date/time
    • Take an analytical approach to problem solving
    • Develop quick and creative solutions for production issues
    • Act on his/her own initiative but take direction when needed
    • Maintain a respectful relationship with Ivie’s employees
    • Perform other responsibilities as outlined by manager
    • Promptly review and approve purchase order requests from Category Specialists that fall within the established approval tiers for Supervisor
    • Work with manager to re-allocate workload when Specialists are out of the office
    • Assist manager with project status reports and workload planning
    • Provide direction to Category Specialists on vendor subcategories or individual vendors as needed
    • Advise manager of process concerns or opportunities to improve category workflow
    • Determine most suitable print method and most suitable vendors for RFQ export
    • Review preliminary estimates for accuracy, price, and margin, comparing to historical information when available
    • Provide complete and accurate purchase orders to vendors
    • Complete all job tickets accurately and on-time
    • Effectively manage key milestones of production
    • Ensure quality samples are delivered to Ivie by required date/time
    • Ensure tracking numbers are delivered to Ivie by required date/time
    • Ensure billing is submitted to Accounting in an accurate and timely manner
    • Follow Ivie’s published Standard Operating Procedures for the Corporate Services Department


    Education and Experience

    • 2-4 year college degree or equivalent
    • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language
    • 2-3 years experience in print purchasing or equivalent Ivie experience
    • Strong knowledge of production processes for his/her category
    • Strong knowledge of print/paper/logistics industry practices


    System Skills Required

    • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Experience with print project management software
    • Laser printing devices
    • Basic understanding of remote conductivity to communicate with Ivie headquarters



    • Frequent travel as required by Category Manager
    • Temporary assignments (out-of-town)
