    Job Overivew
    The primary role of the Prepress Technician is to assure files meet quality standards for print and fulfillment and match provided specs.

    The Prepress Technician is expected to possess a wide knowledge of the offset and digital printing industry including the specifications needed for all methods of print, dies, binding and fulfillment. The Prepress Technician communicates clearly and concisely with clients on a daily basis to support best practices and provide training as needed.

    Responsibilities

    The Prepress Technician is expected to:

    • Review files for color consistency within brand standards.
    • Review files to job estimate, versioning, bleed specs, fold and/or die line specifications.
    • Review files for print quality standards.
    • Makes changes to the content of files as directed by the client.
    • Prepare color accurate proofs and folding mock-ups as required by the client.
    • Interact with Client Services and Corporate Service to communicate problems and solutions with client supplied files.
    • Assist in creation and update of processes within the department and specific to Client requirements.
    • Prepares written reports on issues and resolutions to provide a for process improvement.
    • Develop automated workflow and document process.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • 4-year college education or equivalent in Prepress or Print Production
    • Ability to speak, read, and write in the English language
    • 5 years of experience in Mac based applications
    • Knowledge of offset and digital printing standards
    • Knowledge of direct mail strategies and program execution
    • Knowledge of catalog & insert production, direct mail, collateral, and POS signage
    • Desire to continue education through webinars, seminars, special courses, etc.

     

    System Skills Required

    • Macintosh hardware and knowledge of the following software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Imposition software
    • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Canon laser printing devices, Epson proofers
    • Basic understanding of remote networking to communicate between locations (Box, FTP, Server structure)
