Job Overview

The Flatbed Digital Press & Cutting Table Operator (FDP&CTO) will be responsible for running and troubleshooting a large format digital press as well as large format digital cutting table.  The Operator ensures that all print jobs are completed under very specific timelines with an emphasis on maximizing run-time efficiency and maintaining color and quality control.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • An ability to perform basic maintenance and quality control work on digital printers and cutters.
  • An attention to detail and understanding of large format substrates
  • A self-starter who understands time allocation and is capable of determining a course of conduct without close supervision and delegating responsibility when necessary.
  • Enjoy working on a variety of projects rather than a set daily routine of print jobs.
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Will troubleshoot equipment issues and perform maintenance. Maintain machine and maintenance logs, accurately record service calls.
  • Continually inspect jobs coming off equipment for completeness, accuracy and defects.
  • Ability to correct and manipulate color (strong background in color theory)
  • Understands and completes all paperwork required for production.
  • Communicates effectively, efficiently and appropriately with all employees.
  • Responsible for checking and maintaining all needed supplies for operation of equipment.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and presentable.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
  • Participates in periodic staff meetings and other meetings as necessary.
  • Participates in training and development programs as required of the position.
  • May be required to run additional digital printers, and finishing assets as needed.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks as may be required from time-to-time by management

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Experience running / operating digital presses. Should include, but not be limited to, operation of large format digital presses
  • Experience on the Canon Oce Arizona 2200 series of printers is highly preferred
  • Experience in RIP software, such as Caldera and EFI Fiery. Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is a plus
  • Experience operating Kongsberg (or comparable) Digital Cutting/Routing system is highly preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience operating digital flatbed cutting tables and digital flatbed printers
  • Strong computer skills with file-to-print process
  • Technically and mechanically oriented
  • Digital Printing and/or related production experience
  • Color printing experience
  • Ability to accurately distinguish colors and match to specifications

 

Travel

  • Travel as required for training
